about the author...

Stephen Eisenhammer is a freelance writer and photographer whose passion for travel has taken him beyond the office and deep into the exotic and bizarre. Whether lashing himself with sticks in a Siberian banya, marching with die-hard Sandinistas in Nicaragua, or watching Christ resurrect (twice), in Buenos Aires' religious theme park, he likes to kid himself that travel is more than just a holiday.

When not on the road, Stephen is either: boring people with his stories (again); stroking his backpack (weird); or pestering Eamonn for a new contract so he can go travelling (again).

As well as giving his life for Catch the Lingo, Stephen's work has appeared in The Week, The New Humanist and The Times.
